Through funded research projects, training, and community outreach,
the UMass Boston — Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center Partnership aims to:
- Improve opportunities for under-represented minority students, fellows, and scientists in basic and population science
- Develop resources toward closing the cancer health disparities gap
We offer training and professional development experiences for undergraduates, graduates, postbaccalaureates, and nursing postdocs interested in cancer and cancer disparities research.
We offer research funding opportunities for UMB and DF/HCC faculty to collaborate on innovative cancer and cancer disparities research that spans the sciences.
We work with community partners to build capacity for using evidence-based programs and strategies for health promotion.
Announcements
Drs. Jill Macoska and Adán Colón-Carmona were awarded a 2-year supplement leading to the creation of a genomics microcredential program. This program gives students the chance to learn biological concepts related to cancer genomics and data science approaches.
Join us on Monday, November 25 from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM for our annual Cancer Symposium. The keynote address, given by Dr. Sasha Gusev, is titled Characterizing Germline Cancer Mechanisms at Scale: Risk, Tumor Evolution, and Treatment Outcomes. Following the keynote, there will be a poster session featuring student trainees.
The REC is looking for faculty mentors interested in developing trainees in their lab during Summer 2025 (May 29 – Aug 8). Note that signing up your lab does not guarantee a match – we take care to ensure that students are a good fit for a lab before matching them. If you have questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to u54rec@umb.edu.
